Introduction to Bikepacking

Bikepacking for beginners…

Introduction to Bikepacking is the perfect course for those keen to gain confidence when experimenting with their own micro-adventures. What better way to experience a place than to ride through it and spend the night out, fully immersing yourself in your environment.

This course is designed to give you all the information you’ll need before embarking on your first bikepacking trip, covering topics like how to plan a route for bikepacking, how to navigate, how to setup your camp, what and how much to pack etc.

We start by going over different types of kit for bikepacking and demonstrating various setups dependent on the type of terrain you’ll be encountering.

This will be the first opportunity to fire away with all those questions that have been niggling you. We’ll look at things such as bag types, attachment points, different setups dependent on trip duration etc.

We’ll then load our bikes up and head out for a ride in the beautiful Shropshire Hills where we’ll soon take a stop for lunch and take the opportunity to talk about water purification and the different methods that are available to you and discuss different challenges that you might find in different locations. We’ll then jump on the bikes again and make our way to a beautiful private woodland where we’ll look at different shelter types, discuss their pros and cons before looking at different cooking methods and best practice when in camp.

On the second day we’ll wake up with the sun, make our breakfast before striking camp and loading up our bikes. We’ll then make our way steadily back to base. On the morning ride there will be plenty of opportunity to ask any questions or discuss other talking points whilst out riding some beautiful trails.
